I have known Kathleen for 40 years. I also knew her family well. She has written an honest and thoughtful accounting of her childhood and how her parents struggles affected her. She knows they probably did the best they could given their backgrounds, but nonetheless, she had a lot to deat with in the household. The book is a testament to her strength and character that she survived and thrived given some difficult and traumatic experiences. The book is beautifully written and outlines how she took those experiences and created a meaningful life for herself and her children. It is striking that Kathleen connected to so many people who wanted to help her throughout her life and has turned that around by helping others who have struggled with abuse read the book in 24 hours-I couldn't put it down, I highly recommend anyone interested in understanding resilience in the face of trauma to read this book.

This book was amazing, inspiring and I was so grateful to read it during such a difficult time. My heart goes out to the author and all she endured. A beautiful story about inner strength and courage to move on. You have to read this book!

I am proud of the woman who wrote this. She was a very different young woman when I first met her years ago. I did not know her full story. Most women women won't tell you. If you read her book, you'll understand. She had to summon strength to move on and did some tremendous work through the years while she raised a lovely family. I wish her a future full of happiness! She deserves it.

Kathleen's story is one to be read by women to empathize and learn how to help and be there for another, and especially for the person who has been through hell and thinks there is no way out. Kathleen is proof that you can break the cycle, you can build yourself back up and anew, and that abused women are not alone. Cancer patients are not alone. Some people in life are victims and wear that like a badge. Some people in life throw that title away and become champions. Kathleen is a champion.
